Project Overview

Urban Eats is a regional fast-casual restaurant chain with 12 locations built up over 15 years of steady operation. The food and the fundamentals were still strong, but the brand around them had quietly aged, and it no longer spoke to the younger, digitally native diners who increasingly decide where to eat based on Instagram and delivery apps. Everything from the logo to the in-store experience felt like a relic of an earlier era, and that disconnect was starting to show up in traffic and check averages. Urban Eats engaged Curiosity Boost for a complete brand refresh paired with a genuine digital transformation, not just a new logo but a modern system spanning identity, physical spaces, ordering, and social media. The challenge was to make the chain feel current and craveable again while protecting the loyalty of the customers who had kept it in business for a decade and a half. Success meant growth measured in sales and new-customer acquisition, not just applause for a pretty redesign.

The Challenge

Urban Eats\' brand looked like it had been frozen in 2008. The logo, menu layout, packaging, interior design, and digital presence all read as dated, and that tired image was steadily pushing customers toward trendier fast-casual competitors. The chain\'s core demographic was aging out, and nothing about the experience was pulling younger diners in to replace them. Their social media accounts were sparse and inconsistent, the website was little more than a static page that could not take an online order, and each of the 12 locations had drifted into its own visual and operational style with no unifying standard. This inconsistency confused customers and made the chain feel smaller and less trustworthy than it actually was. Any rebrand carried real risk: push too far and they would alienate loyal regulars, play it too safe and they would fail to attract the new audience they urgently needed.

Our Solution

  • Ran brand discovery workshops with leadership and frontline staff, plus customer focus groups, to define a positioning that honored the chain's heritage while feeling contemporary
  • Created a modern brand identity system, including a refreshed logo, color palette, typography, and photography style, documented in clear guidelines
  • Redesigned every physical touchpoint, from menus and packaging to signage and interior design cues, so all 12 locations felt like one coherent brand
  • Built a fast, responsive website with integrated online ordering through Olo and a loyalty program tied into the Toast POS system
  • Developed a comprehensive social media strategy and food photography playbook to give the brand a consistent, appetizing voice across channels
  • Managed the always-on social presence with Sprout Social and produced templated creative in Canva Enterprise so each location could stay on-brand
  • Launched a coordinated relaunch campaign with special offers and in-store events to celebrate the rebrand and reactivate loyal customers
  • Rolled out staff training on the refreshed brand values and customer experience standards so the in-person experience matched the new look
