Project Overview

FinanceBot AI was founded by two former Wall Street analysts on a simple but ambitious premise: use artificial intelligence to make high-quality financial advice accessible to people who could never afford a traditional advisor. They had the domain expertise and enough initial capital to get moving, but no engineering or design team to actually build the product. More pressing, they had a fundraising timeline to hit, which meant they needed not just working software but a polished, credible experience that would convince sophisticated investors the company was further along than a two-person team. Curiosity Boost was brought on as the technical and design partner to define the MVP, build it, and help stage the launch that would anchor their seed raise. Everything had to be engineered to serve two audiences at once: real early users and the venture capitalists evaluating the opportunity.

The Challenge

FinanceBot faced the unforgiving math of a time-boxed, investor-driven build. They needed a sophisticated AI-powered financial advisory platform that would impress users and VCs alike, but only four months to go from concept to a demo compelling enough to close a round. Financial products carry heavy regulatory and security expectations, so even an early version had to look and behave as though it took compliance seriously rather than cutting corners. The team also had to convincingly demonstrate AI capabilities before investing the time and money to build full production models, a delicate balance between showing genuine value and over-promising. On top of all that, they were competing for attention and capital against well-funded fintech startups with larger teams and longer track records. A mediocre or half-finished product would not just miss the mark, it could sink the raise entirely and end the company before it began.

Our Solution

  • Ran a rapid discovery and scoping sprint to define an MVP focused squarely on the investor-ready features that would tell the strongest story
  • Designed an elegant, confidence-inspiring UI/UX that made complex financial insights feel accessible, trustworthy, and visually impressive
  • Built a secure, compliance-minded platform with bank-grade encryption and an architecture designed for SOC 2 readiness
  • Developed an AI-driven advisory interface that showcased core capabilities using the OpenAI API while leaving a clear path to full proprietary model integration
  • Integrated Plaid for account connectivity and Stripe for billing, demonstrating a credible, monetizable product rather than a static mockup
  • Crafted interactive, guided demo scenarios that walked investors through the platform's key use cases during pitch meetings
  • Launched a conversion-focused landing page and waitlist to generate hard evidence of market demand for the pitch deck
  • Ran targeted PPC campaigns that drove more than 2,000 waitlist signups before launch, turning early interest into a quantifiable traction metric

Curiosity Boost was instrumental in our successful fundraise. They understood the startup game and built a product that wowed investors. The UI was so polished that VCs thought we had a 20-person team. We couldn't have done it without them.
